NaNoWriMo

In 2015, I am participating in NaNoWriMo. I’ve participated before, to more or less success, and am hoping to actually get to the end with a decent story this time.

On this page I will post my daily progress (though the posting of progress might itself be delayed a bit). It’s both for my own tracking, but also for accountability.

How You Can Help

Leave me alone. No, really, if you seem me with my laptop and headphones on, don’t interrupt me. I’m “in the groove” and talking to me, even just to say hi, will pull me out of it.

If you want to encourage me, send me an email, a tweet or a Facebook comment. I’ll see those when I’m done writing and will (probably) respond then.

Things Not to Do

Please don’t ask me what my story is about. On the one hand, I don’t know yet – part of writing a story is to figure that out. Although I have something of an outline or direction, the story itself will almost certainly change before I’m done.

Also, I don’t need unsolicited ideas. Sorry (but not really) to be blunt, but if you have a great idea for a story, then go ahead and write it on your own. I have plenty of ideas, and on the off chance that I run out of them, I know how to generate more.

Progress

The purpose behind NaNoWriMo is to write a significant bloc of text in a story in the course of the month. The minimum goal is 50,000 words – approximately 1,667 words per day – and that’s what I’m targeting, because it’s what I realistically think I can achieve.

The table below provides my progress to date. As you can see, I started off the month poorly, so I’m playing something of a catch-up game. But hopefully I’ll be able to make that up as I go along.
