Under my name at the top of the site here are three words I’ve used to describe myself: Author. Musician. Libertarian. I’ve prominently displayed the author and libertarian part (together, even, especially in my serialized novel Freedom Plot…which I promise will have a new episode soon), but I haven’t really displayed much of the musician part. So, here’s a bit of that side of me.
On Thursday night, my brother and I went to Kellish Hill Farm to play at their weekly open mic night. A kindly soul took some amazing pictures and video of each of the performers. I played three originals – here are links to the videos on YouTube.
“Bottles and Broken Dreams” – I wrote this one about two or three weeks ago. It kind of all came together one night while messing around with my guitar. I like it.
“Old Man” – A song I wrote in 2009. It tells the story of, well, an old man who feels like he’s about done with this chapter and is ready to see what’s in the next.
“Corner” – Don’t remember exactly when I wrote this, early 2010 I think. It’s a bluesy/jazzy ditty with the rare (for me) guitar solo in it. Upbeat, fun to play, people even start clapping near the end.
